NMBI Invites Submissions to Advise on New Corporate Strategy

The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) is inviting registrants and members of the public to participate in an open consultation process which will inform the organisation’s new strategy.

NMBI is in the process of developing its Statement of Strategy 2023 to 2025 and for the coming weeks, anyone who has an interest in nursing and midwifery or in healthcare in general can have their say in shaping our next strategic plan.

NMBI is the regulatory body for the nursing and midwifery professions in Ireland, responsible for maintaining the standards of practice for all nurses and midwives.

In preparing our next statement of strategy, we would like to hear from registrants and the public on their experiences of practice and education standards and the role of the regulator. This input will help influence the direction of the organisation and allow us to continue to enhance our work as a regulator by identifying which areas of practice and policy should be prioritised for further development and improvement.

As an organisation, we are always striving to ensure excellence in professional and educational standards and welcome any submissions that will guide us towards achieving these principles.

Speaking about the launch of the public consultation, President of NMBI, Essene Cassidy, said: “We are pleased to be launching the public consultation phase as we continue the process of developing our new strategy. We are inviting you to have your say and help us continue to safeguard the quality and integrity of the nursing and midwifery professions through thoughtful and robust regulation.”

NMBI CEO Sheila McClelland added: “Nursing and midwifery plays such a vital role in our society and that’s why we want to ensure our next strategy can maintain the high standards of care our professions are renowned for. We are open to opinions and feedback and want to have as wide a consultation process as possible. We are calling on you to let us know what you think and inform the future strategy of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland.”

We invite you to read the draft consultation document which is available on the NMBI website and submit your feedback by completing the online survey.

The closing date for submitting feedback is 5pm on Wednesday, 7 September 2022.
