Making medicines management safe
Medicines make a significant contribution to the health and wellbeing of people and nurses and midwives are uniquely positioned to support the safe and effective use of medicines. The use of medicines in Ireland has increased and poly pharmacy is now normal clinical practice. NMBI symposium for registered nurses in intellectual disability

1,025 nurses and midwives registered since start of year
NMBI has registered 1,025 nurses and midwives to enter the Irish health system since 1st January 2016 as compared to 674 at this time last year. Read more.

Irish Hospice Foundation report: Only 210 dementia patients die at home every year
New research by the Irish Hospice Foundation shows that, of the 4,200 people with dementia who die in Ireland each year, only 210 die at home while 2,310 die in residential care settings, and a further 1,680 die in acute hospitals. Read more.
Misuse of Drugs (Amendment) Bill 2016
The Misuse of Drugs (Amendment) Bill 2015 has finished its legislative passage through the Oireachtas. The primary purpose of the Bill is to protect public health by bringing certain substances which are open to misuse and known to be traded on the illicit market under the scope of the Misuse of Drugs legislation.
