Election 2015: details announced
 
Elections to the Board of NMBI will be held in November of this year. The ballot will open at 9am on 25 November 2015 and will continue until 4pm on 30 November 2015. All registered nurses and midwives will be eligible to vote in these electronic elections. To ensure you are able to vote, we will need up-to-date contact details. Candidates for NMBI Election 2015

Three nurses and/or midwives will be elected to the Board of NMBI, one from each of the following categories:

  1. General Nursing .
  2. Children’s Nursing – the person must be engaged in clinical practice.
  3. Employed in the public health sector and engaged in the education of nurses and midwives

NMBI launches new Scope of Nursing and Midwifery Practice

NMBI launched its new Scope of Nursing and Midwifery Practice Framework Tuesday 29 September 2015.  The launch of the revised Scope Framework concludes the NMBI 2 year project to update the guidance document first published in 2000.

The new Scope framework and accompanying decision-making flowchart provides guidance to nurses and midwives in determining their roles and responsibilities in clinical practice.  It encourages them to critically examine their scope of practice and expand it where appropriate. Read more.

Advanced Practice (Midwifery) public consultation
NMBI has launched public consultation for Advanced Practice (Midwifery) Standards and Requirements. NMBI aims to get opinions/comments from as many professionals, managers, educators, women who access maternity services and policy makers as possible.  This consultation closes on Wednesday 15 October 2015. Take part in the survey and visit our Advanced Practice page to find out more.
