At the Board meeting of 1 December 2017, Essene Cassidy was re-elected President of the Board of NMBI for a four year term from 6 December 2017. Ms Cassidy is a registered Children’s, General and Public Health Nurse with over 25 years nursing experience and has been a Board member of NMBI since October 2012 .
At this meeting the Board also elected Louise Kavanagh McBride as Vice President for a three year term from 6 December 2017. The President thanked outgoing Vice President, John Murray, for his contribution to the work of the Board. The President also paid tribute to other outgoing Board members, Mary Barrett, Eamann Breatnach, Sinead Cleary, Noel Giblin and Michele Monahan, whose tenures ended on 5 December 2017.

NMBI committees: call for expressions of interest
NMBI is seeking expressions of interest from registrants and public interest representatives to participate in the work of the Registration Committee and the Preliminary Proceedings Committee.
NMBI committees are established by the Board of NMBI to assist it in the performance of its functions, and to ensure that a broad range of contributions, skills and qualities are available to it in the interest of patients and the public. Committees are composed of Board and non-Board co-opted members who demonstrate knowledge, skills and/or expertise in the primary area of focus and responsibility of a particular committee. Advanced practice (nursing and midwifery) submission dates
The next registration committee for advanced practice will take place on 5 February 5t 2018. Please note the following submission dates:
Job descriptions must be submitted to the Advanced Practice Section of NMBI by 8 January 2018.
Portfolios must be submitted to the Advanced Practice Section of NMBI by 8 January 2018.
Please note transcripts for the masters and relevant specialist post registration programme(s) must be submitted directly to Advanced Practice Section of the NMBI by the higher education institution.

Findings and decisions
The Board of NMBI has made a decision as to findings and sanctions arising from two complaints received under the Nurses and Midwives Act 2011.
Findings were made against Ms Marilyn Orong Rillera (PIN 86104) and Ms Angelah Machekanyanga (PIN 123434).
