Midwives Week will take place from Tuesday 5 May, the International Day of the Midwife, to Friday 8 May. Events will include the launch of the Practice Standards for Midwives 2015 and a student midwives’ debate on management of the third stage of labour. Read more.

WIT nursing student receives prestigious international award
 
Dawn Smyth, a nursing student at Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT), was announced as a winner of the prestigious Undergraduate Awards 2014 in the Nursing & Midwifery Category for her work entitled Abortion: Exploring the Ethical, Legal and Political Challenges. Read more.
