Nursing Taskforce Report published

The Final Report and Recommendations by the Taskforce on Staffing and Skill Mix for Nursing was published this month.

The Taskforce on Staffing and Skill Mix for Nursing began its work in September 2014. The core objective of the Taskforce was to develop frameworks to support the determination of safe nurse staffing and skill mix (whereby nurse staffing refers to the nursing team including both the nurse and healthcare assistant roles) in a range of major specialities.

The Framework focuses on delivering positive patient outcomes and creating a healthier and more attractive work environment for staff.

The Framework was developed based on international research, consultation with key stakeholders and was piloted in three hospital sites; Beaumont Hospital, Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda and St Colmcilles Hospital, Loughlinstown.

The Nursing Taskforce Report is available on the Department of Health website.
