NMBI has drafted a new code of professional conduct and ethics as directed by the Nurses and Midwives Act of 2011 and is holding information sessions around the country during November & December to meet with nurses, midwives, students, and members of the public.

National Scope of Practice Evaluation Project

NMBI is undertaking an evaluation of the Scope of Nursing and Midwifery Practice (2000). The evaluation taking place over the next 6 months will be conducted by a research team from the Schools of Nursing and Midwifery from UCD, UL, TCD and UCC.

Nursing Careers Centre: New tool for prospective nurses/midwives
The Nursing Careers Centre welcome the introduction of the Public Appointments Service (PAS) newly developed on-line self-assessment questionnaire for prospective nursing and midwifery candidates.

NMBI National Conference
The NMBI National Conference, organised as part of Nurses Week, was held on Wednesday 10 October at the Chartered Accountants House, Pearse St, Dublin 2. The title for the conference was “Back to the future: Preserving the fundamentals of nursing and midwifery and adapting to new futures in healthcare.”

Irish Medicines Board - Drug Safety Newsletter

There are changes to the arrangements for the distribution of the Drug Safety Newsletter. 


Hard copy versions will be phased out over the coming months when electronic versions will become the main method of dissemination. Healthcare professionals must register as subscribers on the IMB website or provide their email contact details by 30 September to continue to receive the IMB newsletter.
