Annual Renewal for Nurses and Midwives Opens Monday, 25 October 2021

The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland’s 2022 annual registration renewal window opens from next Monday, 25 October 2021 and registrants can renew online up to 31 January 2022.

All nurses or midwives practising in Ireland are required to have their name on the Register of Nurses and Midwives which is maintained by NMBI and each year it is necessary to pay the annual renewal to maintain their registration.

NMBI has now issued notices by email to registrants, and these contain details on how you can renew. If you did not receive the email, check your Spam or Junk email folders.

Please do not begin the renewal process itself until the renewal window opens on 25 October.

Please do not begin the renewal process itself until the renewal window opens on 25 October.

We have created a number of guides to assist you through the 2022 annual renewal process. These include a video guide, a step-by-step booklet and a list of FAQs which can be accessed through the links below or on our website.

If the renewal notice has not arrived with you by 25 October and is not in your Spam or Junk folders, you can contact our customer care centre at 0818 200 116 (open Monday to Friday 9:00am - 5:30pm) or email regservices@nmbi.ie and we will send you the details. To help us to deal with your query promptly, please provide your name, Personal Identification Number (PIN) and date of birth.

For the second year the annual registration renewal will be done through our online portal MyNMBI, making the process more streamlined and less paper driven. Over the last year we have introduced a number of changes to ensure the process for the 2022 renewal is as user-friendly as possible.

This year, MyNMBI is mobile enabled, making it more convenient to access the range of services. For the best user experience though we still recommend registrants use a laptop or desktop to renew their registration.

Please note that due to the large number of registrants who need to renew with NMBI, there may be times when the MyNMBI portal is slower processing details and payment, as a result of a high level of usage at any one time. If you experience this issue, we suggest that you log out and come back to the portal later. Peak usage tends to be in the evenings from 6 to 7pm.

We would like to remind all registrants that we no longer accept renewal payments by phone.

For those who require support to complete the renewal process, please call: 0818 200 116 (Monday to Friday 9:00am - 5:30pm) or email regservices@nmbi.ie at any time.
