The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) and the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on areas of potential cooperation and collaboration in the interest of ensuring appropriate assessment of information by NMBI and HIQA and the protection of the health and welfare of people who use health and social services in Ireland. NMBI symposium for registered nurses in intellectual disability
NMBI will host a one-day symposium for registered nurses in intellectual disability (RNIDs) in Dublin on 27 September 2016 in the Clayton Hotel, Ballsbridge. RNIDs are invited to register their interest in attending the symposium by contacting NMBI at education@nmbi.ie. Please include your full name, PIN and place of employment.

Attend the Values for Nurses and Midwives in Ireland - National Awareness Programme
Values for Nurses and Midwives in Ireland developed in collaboration with NMBI and the Office of the Nursing and Midwifery Services Director (ONMSD), was published in June 2016. Values for Nurses and Midwives in Ireland – National Awareness Programme aims to engage nurses and midwives in all sectors of the health service (clinical, education, leadership and management) and nursing and midwifery students to familiarise themselves with, and reflect on using the agreed core values of Compassion, Care and Commitment and their associated behaviours, to inform their decision-making.
NMBI, in collaboration with the ONMSD, supported by the Department of Health are planning to facilitate the Values for Nurses and Midwives in Ireland - National Awareness Programme at a venue near you. Dates will be published on our website in the coming weeks.

National Patient Safety Conference incorporating the National Clinical Effectiveness Symposium
The National Patient Safety Conference incorporating the National Clinical Effectiveness Symposium will take place on 7-8 December 2016 in The Printworks, Dublin Castle. The focus will be on infection and anti-microbial resistance. Registration will open in mid-September on the EventBrite website.

Health Informatics Society of Ireland research bursary
This year the Health Informatics Society of Ireland will award up to three prizes of €1,500 each to enable individuals study an area of healthcare informatics.
Applicants are required to submit a 500 word application incorporating the rationale for the study, a brief section on the methodology proposed and a breakdown of the planned use of the funding to be awarded. Finally, they should state how this study will contribute to the area of health informatics in Ireland. Find out more.
