| Call for expressions of interest: Fitness to Practise Committee |  | 
 NMBI is seeking expressions of interest from midwives to participate in the work of the Fitness to Practise Committee (FTPC). Midwife candidates must be registered as a midwife with NMBI.   The FTPC is a statutory committee of the Board of NMBI, established under the Nurses and Midwives Act 2011. The FTPC considers complaints referred to it by the Preliminary Proceedings Committee for further investigation.
 Candidates must possess a range of skills and competencies amongst the following:

Ability to make informed decisions, think objectively and critically and articulate opinions in a clear, concise and logical mannerDisplay a proven track record of effective judgement, decision making, initiative and analytical thoughtDemonstrate experience in identifying solutions to complex issues and understanding their impact and implicationsPossess excellent interpersonal and teambuilding skills with proven ability to build relationships with many different stakeholdersAbility to interact with other committee members in a group setting, valuing the contributions of all membersDisplay excellent oral and written communication skills, with ability to negotiate and challenge when necessaryPossess a strong sense of ethics, integrity and probity   Desirable 
Prior experience developing, reviewing and analysing policiesPrior experience providing professional advice, support and guidance to the professions of nursing and midwifery or to other health care professionalsDisplay significant knowledge of the business and regulatory environment in which NMBI operates or demonstrate capacity to acquire this knowledge.Experience of the public health sectorExperience working on public boards RemunerationCommittee member expenses will be paid in accordance with public service travel and subsistence policy only.
   Term of appointmentThe appointment to the FTPC will be for a period of three years. Re-appointment may be made at the end of the first period for a further period of three years. No member of the FTPC shall serve more than two terms of office on the FTPC. There should be no expectation of automatic re-appointment to a committee of the Board. Successful applicants must not be employees or former employees of NMBI.
