NMBI is delighted to announce that Sheila McClelland has been appointed Interim Chief Executive Officer, for NMBI, effective from 24 June 2019.

Sheila McClelland has an extensive track record in public service, strategic governance reform and senior management.

The President of NMBI, Essene Cassidy said: “We are very lucky to have Sheila McClelland joining us. She is a CEO with the expertise and experience to deliver our challenging reform agenda. She joins us at a pivotal stage for our new registrant system, which we hope will drive improvements in how we perform our functions. As a regulator, we must be fit-for-purpose and supportive of nurses and midwives across Ireland as they perform their vital work in the healthcare setting on a daily basis.”

Sheila McClelland replaces NMBI’s Director of Midwifery, Dawn Johnston, who has carried out the functions of the Chief Executive Officer during the interim period. NMBI would like to sincerely thank Dawn Johnston for ensuring NMBI continued to operate seamlessly during this time.
