NMBI appoints Dawn Johnston as Director of Midwifery

Dawn Johnston has been appointed Director of Midwifery at NMBI.
Ms Johnston is the first person to hold the Director of Midwifery position at NMBI and will commence her role on 6 February 2017 to support leadership in midwifery and its development as a distinct profession in Ireland in conjunction with the regulatory framework required under the Nursing and Midwives Act 2011. She was previously an NMBI Board member and will be resigning that position to take up this appointment. Read more.

NMBI and the Office of the Nursing and Midwifery Services Director (ONMSD) welcomed an invite from the School of Nursing, UCD to open the Higher Diploma in Mental Health Nursing with the Values for Nurses and Midwives, National Awareness Programme.
This level 8 programme for graduate nurses is a collaborative initiative between UCD, CHO 6, CHO 7, and the National Forensic Mental Health Service. The programme is approved by NMBI and is based on a recovery ethos. Forty registered nurses recently commenced the programme.
