An opportunity to inform the Public Service Pay Commission
 

Engage to Change is a national study of nurses, midwives and doctors on issues relating to recruitment and retention.

 

The study has been commissioned by the Public Service Pay Commission.

 

Participants will be randomly selected to take part in this national study on recruitment and retention of nursing, midwifery and medical personnel.

The report of the findings will help to guide the Public Service Pay Commission with regards to its deliberations on recruitment and retention in the health sector.

NMBI Public Consultation on the Draft Education and Training Rules

NMBI is inviting comments in accordance with Section 13(4) of the Nurses and Midwives Act 2011 on new draft Education and Training Rules.


New Draft Education and Training Rules
The new draft Education and Training rules are substantially the same as the existing legislative framework for Education and Training of nurses and midwives save for the following:
Advanced Nurse/Midwife Practitioners (AN/MPs) will no longer be linked to an NMBI accredited post in line with new requirements and standards for AN/MPs (to be set out in new Advanced Practice Rules).

 

Consultation Process
The Board at its meeting on the 13 February 2018 approved consultation of draft Education and Training Rules in in accordance with Section 13(4) of the Nurses and Midwives Act 2011 for a period of 4 weeks.

The NMBI invites you to submit your views on this draft rule by email to education@nmbi.ie, with Education & Training Rules: Public Consultation in the subject bar before 16 March 2018.

Updated Practice Standards and Guidelines for Nurses and Midwives with Prescriptive Authority

The Practice Standards and Guidelines for Nurses and Midwives with Prescriptive Authority, 3rd Edition, replaces the Practice Standards and Guidelines for Nurses and Midwives with Prescriptive Authority, 2nd Edition (2010). They come into effect on 28/02/2018.

 

​This document is an interim document while awaiting the updated Requirements and Standards for Nurses and Midwives with Prescriptive Authority.

The Global Nursing Now Campaign has been launched

Nursing Now is a campaign focused on raising the status and profile of nursing globally and to maximise the contribution that nursing makes to Universal Health Coverage, women’s empowerment and economic development.

The three-year Nursing Now global campaign was launched in London on 27 February 2018 by the Duchess of Cambridge.

 

The campaign will be run in collaboration with the International Council of Nurses and the World Health Organization and is run by a Campaign Board made up of nurses and non-nurses from 16 different countries. The campaign is a programme of the Burdett Trust for Nursing.

Findings and Decisions

The Board of NMBI has made a decision as to findings and sanctions arising from two complaints received under the Nurses and Midwives Act, 2011.

 

Findings were made against Mr Nathaniel Canillas de Asis (PIN 111555) and Ms Ann Catherine O’Shea (PIN 10558).
