Feedback on the NMBI Baseline Professional Competence Survey

On 12 October 2018 we launched the “NMBI Baseline Professional Competence Survey for Nurses and Midwives”.  The survey ran from 12 October until 14 November 2018.

2,004 registrants responded to the survey.  We appreciate the time registrants took to participate in the survey and the thoughtful, helpful comments provided by so many of you.  We were delighted to receive responses from all divisions of the register and from the different work settings and roles.

It is clear from the responses to the survey that there is an enthusiastic interest in the maintenance of professional competence. Registrants are making genuine efforts to keep up to date, and use a great variety of methods to maintain their competence, e.g. through ‘on the job’ learning, formal courses, reading articles, e-learning and reflective practice.

Your comments will now be presented to the Board and we will inform you how we can take the issue of maintaining professional competence forward.
