Following the signing of Commencement Order (S.I. No. 385) of 2012, our name has changed to Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann, or Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).

Our website has now been configured to correspond with our name change. The new address is www.nmbi.ie Users will still be able to access our website through www.aba.ie or through www.nursingboard.ie All email addresses to the board have also changed from @nursingboard.ie to @nmbi.ie. The new email and website name will also be reflected in new print runs of publications and stationery.

Invitation to complete an Evaluation Survey

In October 2011 the Board launched its on-line Continuing Professional Education/CPD Programme Directory.

As part of the project plan the Board approved a review/evaluation of the Directory to be commenced within one year of its introduction. At the time of writing (November 6, 2012) there were almost 900 Category 1 approved programmes across 14 course groupings within our CPD Directory.

National Conference Update

The National Conference, organised by NMBI, was held on Wednesday 10 October 2012 at the Chartered Accountants House, Pearse Street, Dublin. The title for the conference was Patient Safety through the Regulation of Nursing & Midwifery. With over 100 nurses and midwives from all over Ireland in attendance, the conference focused on the journey from the Nurses Act 1985 to the Nurses and Midwives Act 2011.

Growing Up in Ireland - Annual Conference 2012

Growing Up in Ireland’s Annual Research Conference will be held on Thursday 29 November 2012, at the Ballsbridge Hotel, Pembroke Road, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4.

ALONE is a Dublin based charity that supports older people in the community and have launched their Christmas campaign to help older people in need, particularly in the current climate both economic and weather wise.
