The Department of Health is surveying health and social care workers, including nurses and midwives, to identify future workforce needs. 

This Government initiative, which is being supported by the European Commission, will play a key role in identifying future workforce needs to support Ireland’s growing population, as well as predicting where shortages of health and social care professionals may occur in the future. 

The survey will inform a new system to forecast the supply and demand for nurses, midwives, doctors, and other health and social care professionals in Ireland.    

To help with the research, the Department of Health in partnership with Indecon would like to gather information on working patterns among nurses and midwives. Please note, this survey is independent of the NMBI.
