We would like you to have your say. We are reminding you, and members of the public, that our consultation on the Professional Competence Scheme Guideline for Registered Nurses and Registered Midwives is open and closes at 5pm on Friday, 16 February 2024.

The document has been prepared to enhance public safety and to provide guidance to nurses and midwives on what is expected of them to maintain their competence through continuing professional development (CPD). 

The aim of the guideline is to:

• detail what registered nurses and registered midwives are expected to do to maintain their professional competence.
• outline the responsibilities of the regulator and registrants in quality assuring the process.
