NMBI Board Election – Voting Opens 23 September
 

Voting to elect two people to the Board of NMBI will open on Monday, 23 September 2024 at 9am and close on Wednesday, 2 October 2024 at 12pm. 

The candidates for election are:

  A registered nurse from the practice of general nursing

Ann Keohane

Ann is a registered General Nurse and a registered Children’s Nurse. She is currently the Assistant Director of Nursing at Bon Secours Hospital in Cork.She has over 30 years’ experience in nursing with 28 years in nursing management.

She aims to contribute to the nursing profession by focusing on maintaining the highest standards of care for patients and the education of nurses in Ireland, with an emphasis on retaining the nurses place at the patient's bedside.

Janet Baby Joseph

Janet is a registered General Nurse and a registered Midwife. She is currently a Staff Nurse/Midwife at Cork University Maternity Hospital.

She likes to keep up to date in her field of practice and believes in continuously learning.

Janet has been actively involved in working with a range of organisations, aimed at improving conditions for nurses both locally and nationally.

She is committed to improving the nursing profession and supporting her colleagues and those in our care.

Michelle Quinn

Michelle is a registered General Nurse and a registered Nurse Tutor. She is currently the Director of Nursing, Older Persons Services and manages three residential settings in Co Leitrim.

She has an interest in developing services for older people, in particular, in the area of intergenerational programmes in older persons services residential services. 

Michelle aims to educate future nurses and midwives in academic and clinical settings, providing mentoring at all stages of their careers.

Somy Thomas

Somy is a registered General Nurse and is a Clinical Nurse Specialist, Infection Prevention and Control at the Bon Secours Hospital, Dublin.

She is an advocate for the nursing community and is committed to supporting nurses, particularly those from overseas.

Her focus is on fostering a collaborative environment where nurses are empowered to deliver the best care. She promotes policies that improve healthcare and support nurses' professional growth.

 

  A registered nurse/midwife employed in the public health sector and

  engaged in the education of nurses or midwives

 

Colette Lyng

Colette is an Education Coordinator in the Centre for Nurse Education in Beaumont Hospital. She is a registered General Nurse and a registered Nurse Tutor.

In her role, she develops, facilitates, manages and supports high quality, accessible, cost effective, evidence-based education and assessment for nurses. She also coordinates the induction programmes for newly recruited nurses and newly recruited internationally educated nurses as well as ongoing nursing education.

She is committed to protecting the safety and welfare of nurses and midwives, and thereby protecting the safety and welfare of healthcare service users.

Gráinne Gaffney

Gráinne is a registered General Nurse, registered Midwife, registered Public Health Nurse, registered Nurse Prescriber and registered Nurse Tutor.

She is currently the Director of Nursing and Midwifery Planning and Development in the HSE Regional Health Authority, Dublin and North East.

She has extensive nursing and midwifery experience spanning several divisions and operations, clinical services, operational leadership, education, policy and strategy.

 

  A registered nurse from the practice of children’s nursing engaged in

  clinical practice

As only one nominee was received for the following category, no poll is required in this category.

 

Only nurses and midwives who were on the Register on Monday, 26 August 2024 at 1pm will be eligible to vote. Voting is electronic and will take place through the election portal. Election and e-Voting information will be issued on, or before, Monday, 23 September 2024 to eligible registrants by email. The email will contain detailed instructions on how to vote.
