NMBI Annual Retention Fee 2018
 

The Annual Retention Fee (ARF) of €100 is due for payment by the 31st December 2018.

 

It is your legal and professional responsibility to ensure that your name is on the Register of Nurses and Midwives if you practice nursing or midwifery in Ireland.

 

It is an offence to practice nursing/midwifery if your name is not on the Register of Nurses and Midwives. This includes clinical practice, nursing /midwifery management, education or research.

 

A fee notice will be sent to each nurse and midwife whose name is on the Register of Nurses and Midwives from the NMBI from 1st November 2018.

 

Making it easier to pay with ‘My Account’

 

We encourage all nurses and midwives to set up an online account My Account to pay the ARF.

 

Please ensure you provide the correct postal address for your certificate to be posted to and the correct email address.

The Options for ARF Payment are:

 

  • Online

If this is your first time setting up an online account with the NMBI please visit our website and click into the My Account tab.  When logging in for the first time, you will need to use your Personal Identification Number and the Personal Security Number previously issued to you by the NMBI. If you have forgotten or lost this number please contact our registration department using the online form and it will be reissued to you.

 

  • Phone

You can contact our dedicated payments line on 1890 200 116 to make your payment by debit or credit card.  This line is open from 9.00am – 5.30pm Monday to Friday.

 

  • Direct Debit

If you previously set up a Direct Debit with the NMBI please ensure that your address, bank details and P.I.N.  are correct. Your Annual Retention Fee (ARF) for 2019 will be collected by Direct Debit on or after the 6th December 2018. Please note we are no longer setting up Direct Debits.

 

The ARF may be paid by using one of the three payment options above.  Payments received by post will not be accepted.

 

Following payment of your ARF, your Annual Certificate will issue to you within 7 working days.

Advanced Practice Online Submission

The submission link for advanced practice is now open on the NMBI website. It can be accessed through My Account. This link will remain open until 12.00 hours on 24 September 2018.

 

Eligible applicants can expect the Review Panel to take place on the week of 24 October 2018. Further details will be communicated after the submission date deadline.

Nursing and Midwifery Survey on Family Importance in Care

A survey on the importance of families in care settings is being carried out by a team of nurses and midwives, from the UK and Ireland.


The project is being funded by the Burdett Trust for Nursing. It is being led by Professor Veronica Swallow, University of Leeds and Professor Alison Metcalfe, Sheffield Hallam University. The Irish representative is Dr Veronica Lambert based at the School of Nursing and Human Sciences in Dublin City University.


Registered nurses and midwives are being invited to participate in the survey.

Board Decisions in Cases of Convictions

In cases where a complaint is made to the Preliminary Proceedings Committee (PPC) concerning a conviction for a triable offence, the Nurses and Midwives Act, 2011 provides for the PPC to refer the complaint to the Board of NMBI for consideration. The Board has the option to cancel the registrant’s registration.

 

The Board decided to the cancel the registration of Mr Steven Andrew McGinty (PIN: 59499) and of Ms Greta Dudko (PIN 118918).
