Reminder - Advanced Practice Nursing Standards and Requirements

Reminder email re: Advanced Practice (Nursing) Standards and Requirements

Dear Colleagues

Please note that public consultation for Advanced Practice (Nursing) Standards and Requirements will close in a few days.   We are delighted with the responses to date; however, we urge those who have not yet had the opportunity to review and comment on the document to do so before Monday 28th September.

In accordance with the Nurses and Midwives Act (2011) NMBI commenced the process of developing Advanced Practice (Nursing) Standards and Requirements and Advanced Practice (Midwifery) Standards and Requirements in 2012.  A team known as Working Group Advanced Practice (WGAP) was established to assist NMBI, with expert representation from a number of different key stakeholders. The process included an extensive review of the literature (Carney 2014), consultation through the NMBI website, a survey, and focus groups (n=8) resulting in the publication of an interim report in 2014.  Advanced Practice (Nursing) Standards and Requirements and Advanced Practice (Midwifery) Standards and Requirements are based on the Interim Report (WGAP 2014).

We are now seeking your views on Advanced Practice (Nursing) Standards and Requirements (draft).
