We would like you to take a few minutes to complete an online survey and provide valuable feedback on an important update to guidance on medicines management. The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland and the Office of Nursing and Midwifery Services of the HSE are in the process of updating Guidance to Nurses and Midwives on Medication Management (An Bord Altranais, 2007) and are redeveloping the accompanying eLearning programme.
We are working together to ensure that future professional guidance on medicines management takes account of important patient safety and medicines initiatives influencing the practices of nurses and midwives practices. These initiatives include changes in medicines legislation, healthcare policy, identifying and reporting adverse events, and the introduction of medicines reconciliation by HIQA.
Safe quality medicines management practices are shared between nurses, midwives, medical practitioners, pharmacists and others. So it is important that regulatory guidance on evidence based practice and standards of care are available to registrants working as members of the multidisciplinary team across the Irish health and social care services.
We are now seeking your views on the draft document to inform any necessary revisions to finalise the Standards. We encourage registrants and others to engage with us on this consultation activity by reading the draft document and completing our online survey.
To complete the survey you need to:

You will need to refer to the specific sections of the document to complete the survey, so it may be helpful to read it first and to keep the document open on your computer or mobile device.

The survey is confidential and anonymous. It should only take 20 minutes to complete. The deadline for survey completion is 28 April 2015 date.
