eHealth Week: Driving a Healthier Europe

Attracting over 2,500 international delegates and 100 exhibitors, the event will welcome global decision makers from public and private healthcare sectors, clinicians, hospital and IT managers and VIP guests.

‘Connected Health’ or eHealth allows the patient to engage fully in their own healthcare and allows for more open and efficient communications between patient and healthcare providers. “eHealth solutions are critical in the delivery of a world class health system and offer significant opportunities for stimulating economic growth” said Dr James Reilly TD, Minister for Health in Ireland.

eHealth Week aims to encourage innovative policy development and will look at maximising health and economic benefits and potential for employment through new technologies.

As well as providing a showcase and networking opportunities for the Irish, European and transatlantic ICT industry, the event will incorporate a number of workshops and industry focused activities. A new addition will be the EU-US eHealth Marketplace, a matchmaking event designed to encourage collaboration between European and US companies and other stakeholders.

With a healthier Europe as a key focus for Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the Irish Presidency will host a High Level meeting of EU Ministers at Dublin Castle, as well as a series of talks on Connected Health as part of the World of Health IT Conference and Exhibition (WoHIT) organised by HIMSS Europe*. This flagship event illustrates the gathering momentum across the EU for programmes of change and innovation in healthcare, both at policy and industry level.  The Ireland-EC Presidency Pavilion will take centre stage at the Convention Centre and will be host to the Department of Health, the European Commission and a number of state and industry stakeholders and companies.
